Samsung SCX-4016, 4116, 4216F Overheat Error Message Repair Tips
One of the main fuser errors I see on these machines is the  Samsung SCX-4016, 4116, 4216F Overheat Error Message. However, this error is not typically reported. Usually the open heat error is reported when this happens because when you turn the machine off and back on after an overheat message you tend to get the open heat message. In this article I’d like to talk a little about the error and how to go about trying to eliminate the error or clean the machine so it doesn’t happen again.
Samsung SCX-4016, 4116, 4216F Overheat Error Message Troubleshooting Advice
1. Turn the machine off and let it sit 20 to 40 minutes. For some reason these machines have a tendency to overheat. If you turn the machine off then back on the lamp in the fuser will turn back on. When this happens the fuser just heats up more. If this happens the hot roller can melt the pressure roller and they fuse together causing the fuser to bind and not turn. Then when the machine is turned on you will hear the motor whine as it doesn’t turn or a horrible grinding noise and the fuser drive gear grinds against the fusing assembly gears. So when you need the machine to cool down make sure you give it plenty of time before you turn it back on.
2. Check the vents on the sides of the machine. Make sure nothing is leaning against them or a costumer hasn’t blocked them with pictures or post it notes. I recommend 4 to 6 inches of clearance on all sides.
3. Environment – Â Don’t run these machines in extremely hot places like warehouses or factories in 100 decree weather.
4. If your running large jobs break the jobs up into smaller jobs and allow for cooling between jobs.
5. Check your fans for proper movement.
6. Remove the fuser by following the steps below and clean the thermistor shown in the picture at the top of the article.
