The Print Unable 76 code happens with the center thermistor reads a sudden sharp increase in temperature in the fusing assembly. Often, I find this happens with the machine gets a sudden loss of power and immediately turns back on. You know the kind of outage that happens when your setting at your desk and all the sudden every machine in the office reboots for no reason or the lights flicker and you’re not sure if your imagining it, so you look around to see if anybody else looks as confused as you.

When these sudden power outages happen the machine can check the temperature of the fusing assembly at the wrong time. In this case, the machine might have been at a ready state and fully heated. With the sudden loss of power it might think the machine should be at a low temperature state, so when it checks the fuser temperature it gets an extremely high reading and shuts off to prevent possible larger scale damage.
Repair Tips for the Print Unable 76 Code
1. Due to the nature of the error, turn the machine off, unplug power from wall and computer or network connection, let it sit 15 to 20 minutes to allow for cooling, then turn back on.
2. Check the environment. Make sure the machine is not operating at temperatures over 85 decrees. Check the you have a 4 to 6 inch clearance around the machine. Also, verify that nothing is blocking the cooling vents and fan opens on the sides and top of the machine. Customers love to stick pictures and post it notes on the sides of these machines.
