Another known problem with these pads is the fact they can become detached from the holder assembly. When this happens, the paper hits the upper lip of the holder as it feeds through and causes the paper to jam up right underneath the roller assembly. Obviously, replacement of the separation pad is needed once this occurs.
Now some techs like to replace both parts at the same time. So below I’ve included both parts for order. Now if you only have 50,000 pages through the ADF or if you are not tech savvy then you probably only need or should attempt to replace the ADF separation pad.
Brother DCP L5500D cover ASSY, Document stopper Removal
1. Open the ADF cover ASSY. Release the two bosses to remove the ADF cover ASSY
from the ADF unit.
2. Release the two bosses to remove the document stopper from the ADF unit.
Brother DCP L5500D separation holder ASSY Removal
1. Remove the taptite cup B M3x10 screw to remove the ADF separation holder ASSY
from the ADF unit.
