Canon imageRUNNER 1740 Drum Counter Reset

On most these larger copiers, as the drum ages the copier compensates some of the voltages put across certain parts of the image process assemblies. I personally haven’t noticed it on Canon machines but on machines like Kyocera copiers it can cause all sorts of unexpected print quality issues.

You need to let the copier know when the unit has been replaced so it can reset certain values. Also, it helps yourself and technicians who might be servicing the machine to have an accurate history of when items have been replaced. Below you will find the Canon imageRUNNER 1740 drum counter reset instructions. This should be done when you install or rebuild your drum unit. At the end of the article you will find a link to the drum replacement instructions and a link to order in a new drum if needed.

IMPORTANT
Do not perform the following operation unless you have replaced the drum unit.
1 Press (Additional Functions) âžž [Adjustment/Cleaning].
2 Press or until [Initialize After Replacing Drum] appears âžž press [Initialize After Replacing Drum].
3 Press [Yes] to initialize the drum.
