The saying goes that if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Well, Brother decided not to listen and redesigned the fusing unit in these machines and it has been nothing but problems. Brother was using a hot roller with a lamp to fuse the paper. In this new model they have changed to a fixing film and heating element.
The good news is that Brother has recently came out with a newer model that has a redesigned fuser. I recently worked on one for another problem and it had 25,000 prints on it and was holding up pretty well. I guess, only time will tell, but given the problems with these models, I find it hard to believe Brother didn’t spend a lot of time on making this new fuser works better than in this model.
