Additional information on the Ricoh, Lanier, Savin SP C240, SP C242 SC543 Error Code

  1. Due to the cause of the error. It is very important to let the machine sit 15 to 20 minutes to cool before resetting the code. Not doing this can lead to further damage to the fuser and possibly the machine.
  2. After the machine has sat for 20 minutes. Reset the code.
  3. Make sure the environment meets the machines specs. I tend to say nothing over 80 to 85 decrees.
  4. Check for proper ventilation and that cooling fan vents aren’t blocked.
  5. Make sure the machine is not sitting in direct sunlight.
  6. Make sure the paper type setting matches the paper type being used.
  7. Remove the fuser and check the connectors and thermistor.
  8. The service manual says to replace the engine control board but I would probably start with the fuser unless the error code stays on constantly.
