Additional Advice for the Ricoh SP4110, SP4210, SP4310 SC542 Fuser Error

  1. Get into maintenance mode and reset the SC542 counter and see what happens. Fuser errors in these machines can only be reset through service mode so when you are troubleshooting these machine you will have to reset the code multiple times if it is a more serious error that involves working through the steps to find the issue.
  2. Ricoh SP4110, SP4210, SP4310 Service Mode SC Fuser Error Reset
  3. Fuser errors in these machines can happen by accident. If the machine experiences a loss of power suddenly it can create an error. Simply resetting the error can fix the problem. However, I still like to look over the fuser.
  4. Remove the fuser and check for a clean thermistor. Also, most thermistors ride on the surface of the hot roller so you might want to check on proper seating.
  5. Check for continuity between the lamp and thermostat. Its an AC circuit so from one end to the next on the lamp and thermostat you should have continuity. The thermistors are DC so they require another test that I’m not going to get into because I don’t believe the manual gives specifics on this.
  6. Due to the price, unless the fuser is practically brand new then I just replace the whole thing if one of the parts listed above is bad.
