Dell 5210n, 5310n Fuser Replacement and Reset Procedure

Below you will find the  Dell 5210n, 5310n Fuser Replacement and Reset Procedure. Most people will know this engine as the Lexmark T640 series printer. This engine is also used in the IBM Infoprint, Some Toshiba Machines, and a Banking Printer that I can’t remember the name of. So there are lots of these engines out there and they hold up pretty good as long as you take care of them. I have a few of the Lexmark models that I service for customers and they are getting up there in the page counts. The main thing I will say about these is that third party fusers don’t tend to hold up as well as the OEM versions. Rarely do I see a third party fuser last the 300,000 life expectancy. Most third party fusers tend to last 150,000 to 200,000. Will that be the case all the time, NO. I just don’t want people to be disappointed when they don’t so this is my warning.

Maintenance Life Reset Procedure
At 300,000 prints the machine will give you a 80 Scheduled Maintenance message. At this point the fuser, transfer roller, pick up rollers, and charge rollers should be replaced. The fuser doesn’t have it’s own reset. Now you can handle this a few ways. Before you replace just the fuser, check the counter and parts to see how they look and replace them all at one time in the kit. Second, replace just the fuser and reset the counter, replace the other parts later as needed. Third, replace just the fuser, mark on the fuser the date and page count, and not reset the counter.
1. Press and hold the Check button and right arrow button.
2. Turn on the printer.
3. Release the buttons when Performing Self Test displays.
The message CONFIG MENU displays on the top line of the operator panel.
To reset the maintenance page count to zero:
4. Select Reset Maintenance Count from the Configuration menu.
