Brother 5440, 5450, 5470, 6180 Fuser Removal and Fuser Counter Reset

As these machines age I get more and more calls on  them as they do what any Brother machine does, and that’s rack up a surprising amount of prints. While Brother has switched to a new fusing unit design and it is plagued with problems, these machines continue with the reputation Brother has become known for. Like HP had when the  4200  machines first came out, these machines do have an unfortunate issue and that is the fuser. Hopefully Brother will get this problem solved. I know they’ve made some updates, I’ve known the machines I’ve replaced fusers in, only time will tell if this new design will last longer than the original.  Anyway, if you find yourself needing to replace the fusing assembly the check out the  Brother 5440, 5450, 5470, 6180 Fuser Removal and  Fuser counter reset below. Remember, don’t forget to reset the life counter when replacing.

The links in this article say the fuser is for the MFC 8950. The 8950 uses the same fuser as these models. If you look in the description in the link you will see this fuser works for about 10 different Brother Models

Did you or anyone else do this to the 6280? If so can you send me a message
    or reply here.
    Thanks in advance..

  6. The fuser smearing toner issue can be solved by applying hi temp grease beneath the fuser sleeve to prevent the sleeve from sticking. I use Nye Uniflor heatproof lubricant grease, a typical fuser grease.

Despite knowing this, I have no idea where to download the application to reset the fuser counter.
