Samsung ML-3051ND Low Heat Error Cycle Power Fuser Problem

Troubleshooting a Low Heat Error, Cycle Power on the Samsung ML-3051ND Printer

The Low Heat Error Cycle Power Message is related to a fusing assembly error, Samsung ML-3051ND  Fusing Assembly, JC96-04387A . While the service manual just says to replace the fusing unit there are a few other things you could try before replacing. In this article I’d like to talk about a few repair tips.
Note : You will notice that the parts links in this article take you to a link that describes the part as for a Dell machine. If you follow the link you will see under the details this fuser works in both Dell machines and Samsung.

1. Turn the printer off then back on. Sometimes sudden power outages can cause this issue as the printer will check the internal temperature at the wrong time. Restarting the printer will allow it to check the temperature under normal working conditions.

2. Check the power source. Manufactures recommend having these printers plugged straight into a wall outlet. Avoid power strips, battery backups, and UPS’s. Also other heating devices on the same circuit can draw power away from the printer and result in low temperature readings in the machine.

3. Remove the fusing unit and check the over all conditions. Look for scratches in the hot roller, wrinkles or warped surface on the pressure roller, and gear dust and worn gear teeth. If you see any of these common signs of extreme wear, its time to replace the fusing assembly. If every thing looks good then remove the thermistor  and clean it off. Dirt and debris between the hot roller surface and  the thermistor can lead to low heat errors. It doesn’t take much. You might also want to check the electrodes on the side of the fusing unit. Finally you can check the thermostats on top of the fusing unit but I would think they would lead more towards an open heat error. Anyway they should have continuity across them. If they don’t then one is open. Give it a shot of extremely cold error sometimes will reset it as its temperature sensitive.

4. If after reinstalling the fusing assembly and the problem presist, it’s time to replace the unit. Follow the instructions and pictures below for easy removal and installation.
