HP LaserJet  Enterprise 600 Series M601n Printer Review and Specifications

The HP Laserjet  Enterprise 600 Series M601N Printer  frustrates me. The 600 series HP replaces the 4000 series and continues  to keep HP at the top of the laser printer industry. These printers offer extremely quick print speeds at  45 ppm, a standard 500 sheet cassette tray, 512mb memory, and a 100 multipurpose tray that can handle a wide range of specialty media. These machines are great workgroup  printers that can handle up to  12,000 prints per month so you should have no problem having several users printing to this machine.  
One of the features that makes these machines so great is that it handles all sorts of specialty media and does it well with the ability to fine tune these features for better performance. Also, these machines have an average cost per page of 1.8 cents. Not the best cost per page for such a large machine but that is why it cost considerably less than some of the other models in this series. Probably the best feature about the 600 series is the accessories. With the wide range of accessories you can custom build these machines to meet your specific needs. I’m not going to talk about all these accessories but have decided to list them below.

My biggest problem with these machines is that they do not handle a high yield cartridge. If you buy this machine and plan on doing some heavy-duty  printing you have bought the wrong machine. Once you hit the 250,000 to 500,000 page count you would have been better off buying one of the models that takes the high yield cartridge. I can’t tell you the number of people who bought this machine only to find out it doesn’t take the high yield cartridge and realize they purchased the wrong machine. If you plan on doing 20,000 to 50,000 prints a year then this is a good option. If you plan on doing more you should invest more up front, get one that takes a high yield cartridge, and in the long run your investment will pay off.
