Troubleshooting The HP 5200 LaserJet 50.7 Fuser Error

HP, after successfully ruining their inkjet printers with unnecessary features, horrible design changes and poorly made parts has decided to move onto there laserjet machines. Hp use to have problems with fuser pressure rollers flat spotting over time due to the pressure applied to them. However, in recent years this hasn’t been an issue. Lately the issue has been the bushing in the fuser wearing out prematurely. I can only think of this being why they made this change. The mechanism uses a cam system to apply and release the pressure in the roller. On the end of the cam system is a sensor flag the actuates a sensor if this sensor is not actuated when it should the HP laserjet 5200 printer throws a 50.7 fuser error. I haven’t seen it on this model but on models like the color laserjet 3800 I’ve seen the gear teeth break inside the cam system resulting in the sensor not being actuated in time. So for this situation I would recommend pulling the fuser out and check and make sure all the gears have their teeth and the sensor and actuator flag haven’t broken.
