HP Color LaserJet  3500, 3550, 3700 50.3 Fuser Error

In the HP Color Laserjet  3500, 3550, and 3700 printers the 50.3 fuser error displayed on the printers control panel means the fusing unit has overheated. Probably one of the least common fuser errors with these machines is a high temperature error like the 50.3 fuser error. HP Q3655A Color Laserjet 3500/3700 110V Fuser Kit.  However,  if you do get this error the best thing to try is just turning the machine off and letting it sit 10 to 20 minutes to cool down. While you have it turned off you should check the area around the machine. these machines have fans inside them to help cool of the parts. If you lean files, folders, or books on it you can block the fans and cause the machine to overheat. Another thing that can cause the 50.3 fuser  error is having the fuser setting configured wrong or feeding heavy cardstock through the machine. When the machine recognizes the use of heavy cardstock it turns up the fusers temperature. If run for a long period of time like this the fuser can overheat. If you run into this issue then the best thing to do is break up the job into smaller jobs.

1. The connector between the fuser  and the printer is not connected properly. Reseat  the fuser. Check the connector J5013  between the fuser and the printer. Replace it if damaged.
2. Short in the main thermistor. Turn the printer off and remove the fuser. Measure the resistance between the fuser  connectors J5013LA-2  (MAINTH) and J5013LA-1  (GND).
