HP Laserjet 4200 Perform Printer Maintenance Message

The HP laserjet 4200 Perform Printer Maintenance Message  is a result of hitting the 200,000 page count mark. After the machine reaches 200,000 copies this message comes up on the control panel and you should install the PM parts and reset the message per the kit instructions. Most people at this time call in for service because they are unsure of what to do. While I recommend calling a technician to have them do it so they can clean and check over the machine to verify its ready to handle the next 200,000 copies. You can always do it yourself or if you have someone with minimal technical skills they should have no problem handling the job. The kits are designed to be user replaceable. Most come with instructions on how to reset the counter, part installation,  and most, like the 4200 PM kit, don’t require any tools. The kits come with a fusing assembly, transfer roller, and several feed rollers. I know some of you are thinking wow 200,000 copies it’s time to get a new machine but really I’ve seen these machines go well over a million copies with just PM kits installed so the machine has plenty of life left and should be well worth the additional  investment rather than buying a new machine.

Service companies love to mark up parts just like your car mechanic. So while you might want to have a tech come out and perform the PM it might be in your best interest to buy the part yourself and have them come out to install it to avoid unnecessary expenses. Below is a link to buy an affordable PM kit. I will add that not all parts are built the same. If you shop around I’m sure you can find cheaper kits. This advertiser states they use OEM parts and their pricing is in the middle of the price range which is usually where I like to be when ordering parts. Like the old saying goes, “You get what you pay for.” so I tend to stick in the middle so I feel I’m not being overcharged and I’m not buying the cheapest thing on the market.
