These rollers are rated at around 120,000 pages. I’ve replaced a few of these and I can say the rating is pretty accurate. The rollers tend to hold up fairly good. When they start to fail you generally see the paper not getting out of the tray. You open everything up, don’t find a jam and then go to print again and everything is ok. Or if you remove the top piece of paper or flip the paper it starts working again. However, over time the jams become more consistent and service is needed.
Note : I usually don’t turn the machine off to perform this procedure but on some machines the rollers turn if more than one tray is installed and the machine pulls from another tray. So if you want to avoid being scared then you might want to turn it off.
Also, the manufactures tend to say don’t touch the roller with your hand as the oil can cause issues. I tend to call BS on this but I still try not to touch them a lot. However, I tend to clean them off with a damp cloth when I unpack them before they are installed.
Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C9065 PRO Feed Roller Replacement and Installation
1) Remove the Fixation Pin 1, and remove the Cassette Feed Roller 2.
2) Release the claw 1 of the Cassette Feed Roller, and remove the Cassette Feed Roller 2.
3) Install the Cassette Feed Roller 2 by aligning the protrusion [A] of the Feed Roller Shaft
with the groove 1 of the Cassette Feed Roller.
4) Release the claw 1 of the Cassette Separation Roller, and remove the Cassette
Separation Roller 2.
3) Install the Cassette Separation Roller 2 by aligning the protrusion [A] of the Separation Roller Shaft
with the groove 1 of the Cassette Separation Roller.
CAUTION:
Be sure to install the Cassette Feed Roller 1 to the shaft at the upper side and the
Cassette Separation Roller 2 to the shaft at the lower side when assembling.
