Advice for the Lexmark T654, T652, T650 Error Code 920.50

  1. Check the power source. Plug the unit straight into a wall outlet for testing. Never plug these machines into power strips with multiple devices the use large amounts of power like heaters, coffee makers, and other laser printers or copiers. Also, never plug these units into battery backups as they will wear down the battery and overtime cause issue with the printers power supply.
  2. Check the paper type matches the paper being used in the machine. Incorrect paper type settings can cause premature fuser failure and inconsistent temperatures.
  3. Check for fuser wrap. Paper wrapped around the fusers hot roller.
  4. Remove the fuser and clean the thermistors and verify they are seated correctly. On most machines that have the common thermistor, it should ride just on top of the hot roller surface.
  5. I’m not sure on these machines but the old ones, the lamps where held in place by two metal tabs. Overtime the end of the tabs would get corroded which resulted in the lamp not getting a good current. Clean the contacts with an emery board if it has them.
  6. If everything you tried has failed and you still get the error then the next step is to replace the fusing unit.
