Additional Information on the Ricoh, Lanier, Savin SP C250 , SP C252 SC543 Error Code

  1. Let the machine sit at least 20 to 30 minutes to cool down before trying to restart. Once you have done that, reboot the machine and reset the error code. Once the error code is reset the machine will go through the normal warmup procedure. If it fails again, then we need to further investigate, if it doesn’t then we keep an eye on it and see if the problem comes back after some usage.

  3. Note : Anytime the error happens the code needs to be reset. Simply turning it off then back on will not solve the problem. Also, due to the nature of the error, resetting the error right after you receive this message can lead to additional damage to the machine and possible fire in rare cases. Let the machine cool down before trying again. This would be a good time to read through the following steps and do them before trying again.
  4. Make sure the machine is not setting in direct sunlight.
  5. Make sure the vents are clear, the fans are running, and the machine is in a stable environment. I tend to say nothing over 80 decrees.
  6. Make sure the machines paper type setting matches what is in the tray. Running plain paper at a heavy cardstock setting can overheat the machine.
  7. Remove the fuser and check the thermistors.
  8. The service manual says to replace the Engine control board at this point but I probably would try the fuser first. That is totally up to you. That’s just my opinion.
