Diagnostic Tips for the Kyocera FS2000D Error Code C6000 Low Temperature Problem

The  Kyocera FS2000D Error Code C6000 means that the machine has told the power supply to provide AC power to the lamp in the fuser but the fuser didn’t reach the correct operating temperature in the set amount of time. When the lamp turns the hot roller starts heating up. Once the hot roller gets to a certain temperature then the machine can start printing. Also, the machine must maintain a certain temperature while printing. Failure of either of things can result in the error code C6000. Below you will find some diagnostic tips from the service manual as well as some of my own advice. You will find links on this page to order in a new fusing assembly and at the bottom of the page you will find a link to the removal and replacement instructions for the fusing assembly.

Additional Diagnostic Tips

The main thing I want to know when I get an error like this, is if the lamp is turning on. I’m not sure on these machines but on some machines the lamp turns on and warms up when the machine turns on. Other machines don’t turn the lamp on till it goes to print. So the first thing I would do is remove the back door or side covers and turn the machine. If it goes to a ready state without the lamp turning on then print a test page. Now, if it comes up with an error right away or when you go to print and you don’t see the lamp light up then you have a fault somewhere in the electrical. Remove the fuser and check for continuity across the lamp and the thermal fuse. Up above they call the thermal fuse and thermal cutout. Typically, this is found on the top of the fuser. The way the thermal fuse works is if the unit gets to hot the fuse opens to shut off AC to the lamp. Some thermal fuses can be reset by  the machine cooling down. Above it says to replace the thermal fuse or lamp. If you have to go this far your probably better off just replacing the whole unit. Now if the lamp turns on then you might want to check the thermistor. The thermitor measures the temperature of the hot roller. If dirt or debris gets on the surface of the thermistor then the machine can get a poor temperature reading leading to fuser errors. Clean the surface of thermistor or reinstall it back in the fuser. Make sure the surface of the thermistor is riding on the surface of the hot roller when put back in. In my opinion 1 or 2 fuser errors a year is acceptable. 2 or 3 in a few month period and you probably will want to replace the fuser.
