Additional Repair Aids

1. Turn the power off then back on. Fuser errors accidentally happen from time to time. My theory is if it happens once or twice a year, that is acceptable. Two or Three times in a few month period then you probably need to start digging around or buy a new fuser.

2. Check the power source. For testing make sure that you have the unit plugged into a wall outlet. Avoid power strips and battery back ups.

3.  Remove the side covers or back cover. Turn the machine on. Some machine warm up right away, others wait till it’s time to print. So look for the fuser lamp to turn on when you turn the machine on or after you send a print job to it. The lamp isn’t the brightest thing but usually you can see it light up out the sides of the fuser.

4. If the lamp lights up then remove the fuser, remove the thermistor, and clean the surface of any debris. Debris on the surface of the thermistor can cause temperature reading problems.

5. If the lamp doesn’t light up then remove the fuser and check for continuity across the lamp, lamp contact points / wires, and thermal fuse.

6. Replace the fusing assembly.
