Diagnostic Advice for the  Lexmark T654, T652, T650 Error Code 920.02

Warning  : The fusing assembly is very hot when operating. If you remove the fusing assembly and decide to take it apart you should wait 15 to 30 minutes to avoid injury. If you remove the fuser it is recommended that the power cord be removed for the machine.

1. Most times when I see an error like this it is when the machine experienced a sudden lost of power like when the lights flicker or a brown out. When situations like this occur the machine reads the temperature at a low state causing these accidental error messages. Turn the machine off then back on or wait 20 to 30 minutes then try again.

2. Other causes can be improper voltage going to the machine. If you have the machine plugged into a power strip with multiple devices or into a battery back up you can also experience issues like this. Plug the machine straight into a wall outlet if you are testing the machine for errors with the fusing unit.

3. Also, poor contact points for the heat lamps and debris on the thermistor can lead to low heat fuser error messages. Remove the fuser, check the contacts for corrosion and the thermistors for debris where they make contact with the hot roller or pressure roller. Clean these areas and test again.

4. If all the steps above fail then you next step in troubleshooting is to replace the fusing assembly.

Note : If a fuser error happens once or twice in a year I wouldn’t get to concerned. However, if you are seeing fuser errors on a regular basis then you probably have a more serious problem that is only going to get worse. Parts replacement probably should be done sooner than later to prevent unwanted down time.
