Diagnostic Tips for the  Brother DCP – 8080DN, 8085DN Replace Parts Fuser Unit

Really there isn’t a whole lot I have to say about this error that I already haven’t in other articles. After 100,000 prints the  Brother DCP – 8080DN, 8085DN Replace Parts Fuser Unit message will appear on the display. This means that the fuser unit has reached the end of its life and in order to maintain proper operation of the machine it is recommended that you replace the fusing unit. In most cases the fuser, at this point, is either starting to show signs of wear or on the verge of.

Signs of Fuser Wear

As the fusers age the outer coating of the hot roller tends to wear off or get scratched by the pick fingers. When this happens you will see faint grey lines running down the page or if it wears on the side then you will get ghosting down the sides of the machine. If the pressure roller starts to come apart then pieces of it might come out the back and paper jams will start happening in the fuser area of the machine. Generally, I don’t see fusers last more than 125,000 prints or copies without showing serious signs of wear and print quality problems.

Below you will find a link to the fuser replacement instructions and at the bottom of this page you  will find the Life Counter reset instructions. I know some will come to this page just for the reset instructions. I seriously recommend that you replace the fuser at this time to avoid unwanted down time of your machine and to maintain proper operation of your machine.
