Canon imageCLASS MF6580 – MF6530 Feed Roller Replacement

Instructions for the Canon imageCLASS MF6580 – MF6530 Feed Roller Replacement

I’ve seen a lot of these machines but have only changed the feed rollers a few times and that was a few years ago by now. These machines are nice little machines and I like them. However, when I talk to customers about fixing them they tend to shy away from it and I’ve seen more than one sitting in the back of an office on a shelf not being used. The rollers tend to hold up rather well. I have ran into feed problems with them but typically cleaning them fixes the problem. However, like any machine they will need to be replaced with age or once you get 50,000 or 75,000  copies and prints on them. For some reason Canon’s MF6530 service manual doesn’t really give a life value on these parts. Below you will find the  Canon imageCLASS MF6580 – MF6530 Feed Roller Replacement, cassette pick up roller and cassette separation roller replacement procedures along with illustrations.

Cassette Pickup Roller Removal Procedure
1. Remove the  paper cassette tray and sit it a side.
2.  The service manual recommends to put the machine on its back and prop it up slightly with a stack of paper to avoid sitting it on the fan ducts on the back cover. I would also recommend to watch the ADF unit. On most machines the ADF likes to flip open when the machine is on its back. I don’t know on this model but they can slam back or open suddenly. I’ve never had one break but I’ve heard of it happening.

3. Turn the pickup roller a half-turn with one hand, release the hook with the other hand, and remove the cassette pickup roller.

Conclusion on the  Canon imageCLASS MF6580 – MF6530 Feed Roller Replacement

Not really a hard repair. The hardest thing will probably be putting it on its back. These ain’t the lightest machines and because the machines I work on aren’t mine, I’m always worried about breaking something when I do this. The main thing I can say it to be careful and be patient. If you get carried away and start to try and do it quick, that’s when mistakes get made and parts get broke.

There are two pick up rollers in the machine and the feed and separation rollers are the same so you will need two of each of the parts listed below to complete a PM of the cassette tray feed tires.
