Dell 2335dn / 2355dn Over Heat Error Troubleshooting Advice
One error you don’t want to see on these machines is the over heat error. The  Dell 2335dn / 2355dn Over Heat Error happens when the temperature in the fusing unit exceeds operating temperature for X amount of time. On these machines it can be particularly bad when this happens because the hot roller sometimes will melt to lower pressure roller. This can lead to all sorts of problems and additional repair cost. Therefore when I see these units have exceeded their estimated life or I see the lower pressure roller showing signs of wear I like to replace them to be on the safe side. The estimated life of these fusers is 80,000 prints so I recommend checking the life whenever you service one of these machines. The fusing assemblies tend  to last well past their life cycle which can lead to problems.

Repair Tips for the  Dell 2335dn / 2355dn Over Heat Error
1. Turn the machine off and let it sit 15 to 20 minutes before you turn it back on to allow for proper fusing.
2. Check for proper ventilation of the machine. I always recommend 4 to 6 inches of clearance on all sides.
3. Check the room temperature. I personally don’t recommend operating them in temperatures over 85 decrees.
4. If you are printing large print jobs or printing on specialty paper break the large jobs into smaller ones and allow breaks for cool down.
5. Remove the fuser and clean the thermistors and check for wear and tear.
6. Replace the fusing assembly.
