Below you will find the instructions for the CM4540 fuser replacement along with links to purchase a new fusing assembly and information on how the machine resets the fuser life counter. These units are rated at an estimated 150,000 pages. Now this isn’t an exact number but estimated life. If you want to see how the unit is progressing in its life then print off the supplies status page for a percentage of life left bar.

Fuser Works in the CP4025, CP4525, CM4540, and M651

What the Service Manual As to Say

The product detects a new fuser using a fusible link that breaks down after 100 pages of  printing. If a new fuser is installed for troubleshooting purposes, be sure to remove it before printing  100 pages.

Now I’ve seen others ask about how to reset the fuser after replacing the unit. On most machines it resets right away. I was surprised when I saw what was written in the service manual. I have yet to replace one but my guess would be it doesn’t always reset right away. If you are overly concerned about it then I would run a hundred or so pages through the machine to verify if it resets.
