Fuser Replacement and Life Reset – Xerox Phaser 6140 Color Printer

Instructions for the Fuser Replacement and Reset on the Xerox Phaser 6140 Color Printer

At around 50,000 prints the life of the fusing assembly is near the end of its life. At this point, failure to replace the fusing assembly could result in a decline in print quality and eventually unwanted down time of your equipment. When the life counter reaches near the end of its life the machine will display Replace Fuser on the control panel. When this happens order in a new fusing assembly and replace by following the fuser replacement and life reset instructions below.

Fuser Replacement Procedure

1. Open the Front Cover

2. Lower the Transfer Belt

3. Release the lever on the right and pull the right side out then up and slide to the right.

4. After Replacement don’t forget to reset the fuser life counter.

Note : On some Dell models I’ve seen screws immediately behind the right lever. Failure to remove the screw from the base of the machine doesn’t allow the lever to disengage from the post holding the fuser in place.
