Copystar CS-1815 C4010 Error – Polygon Motor – Printer Repair

Troubleshooting Repair Tips for the Copystar CS-1815 C4010 Error

The CS-1815 C4010 Error is related to an unstable motor rotation after the polygon motor has reached normal operating speed. For proper image writing to the drum unit the polygon motor has to be rotating at a constant speed. Typically this error happens when debris gets in the motor bushings or when the lubricant has dried up. Below are a few diagnostic aids and repair advice before you decide to purchase a new laser scanner assembly or new machine.

CS-1815 C4010 Error Tips

1. Turn the machine off then back on. If that fails, turn off, unplug power cable, let the machine sit 20 to 30 minutes, then try again. These errors do happen occasionally. If the machine gets bumped during printing or a brief interruption of power are the best examples.

2. Reseat connectors going into the laser scanner assembly and board.

3. If your up to the task then you can remove the laser scanner assembly and take the polygon motor apart. Use alcohol to clean off the motor shaft on the polygon part and use a Q-tip to clean out the motor bushings. Apply a light lubricant to the rod and bushings and reinstall. I only perform this step as a last resort when it’s obvious nothing else is going to solve it other than replacing parts. If you decide to perform this step be extremely careful with the polygon motor. The surface is a bunch of mirrors that the laser bounces off of. If you get finger prints or scratches on the mirrors the machine will not print right when it’s put back together. If dirt gets on the mirrors then gently clean with a dry Q-tip, avoid using heavy pressure as this will scratch the surface. Sometimes this step works and sometimes it doesn’t. I’ve had machines work great afterwords, some not work, and others have worked for a few weeks to months then fail again.

4. Replace the laser scanner assembly.

5. Replace the Engine Control Board.

Repair or Replace

The laser scanner assemblies aren’t cheap on these machines and I don’t have a affiliate with a link to purchase from. While I’m personally not a big fan of Copystars I’ve listed a few of the current models below that would be replacements to this model. I’ve also listed some Brother machines that I personally recommend and sell to my customers. If your thinking about buying a new machine I would consider the Brother models and check out the reviews on what others say.
