Diagnostic Tips for the 920 Fuser Error on the Lexmark Optra T 630, 632, and 634 Series
The 920 Fuser Error on these and most Lexmark machines is due to a low temperature reading on the fusing assembly hot roller during the act of printing. This is one of the more common fuser errors I’ve seen on these machines. Most times it seems like the thermistor is the main cause of concern for this error. While the top fuser cover assembly can be replaced, I often find that the rest of the fusing assembly is typically in rough shape on these machines. Majority of the time I just replace the whole fusing assembly to avoid possible call backs.
Quick Troubleshooting Tips.
1. Turn the machine off then back on. Low temperature readings do happen. Sometimes it’s a false error and other times it’s a early sign of a more serious problem. Once, I consider an accident. Second time, I’m replacing parts.
2. Check power source. Plug straight into wall outlet and no power strips or battery back ups. These machines are big heaters that draw lots of power when printing. Other large devices on the same circuit can cause a power struggle.
3. Remove the fusing assembly and clean the thermistor surface.
4. Replace the fusing assembly.
5. Perform the more serious cold fuser check  by clicking on the link at the bottom of the article.
Note: 99% of the time, these 920 fuser errors don’t get past the fuser replacement. It’s probably pretty safe if you follow the first 4 steps your issues will be resolved. The 5th step can become a little confusing if your not very familiar with these machines and in most cases isn’t needed.
