One of the most common questions I get on Brother machines is how do I get rid of the replace drum or other consumable messages. Unlike toner cartridges you have to manually go into the reset menu to reset the counter. For some reason, Brother still is not good about putting the instructions in the box. They do put it in the users manual but one thing that I’ve learned over the years is that no one reads them. Anyway, below is the drum reset procedure along with resetting other parts and consumables.

Drum Reset Procedure
1. Press the GO and UP arrow buttons at the same time to enter into the Reset Menu.
2. “Reset Menu†will appear on the control panel display. By pressing the UP or DOWN arrow buttons, scroll down to the consumable or part you want to replace and press the OK button.
Periodical replacement parts or consumable part are indicated on the control panel display
– Drum unit
– Belt unit
– PF kit MP
– PF kit1
– PF kit2
– Fuser unit
– Laser unit
3. Once “ UP arrow “Reset” DOWN arrow “Exit” appears on the LCD, press the UP arrow button.
4. The printer will clear the consumable counter for the part you highlighted then return to a ready state.
