HP Laserjet 4240, 4250, 4350 Printer Laser Scanner Removal

Laser Scanner Removal Procedure for the HP Laserjet 4240, 4250,   4350

Not a whole lot to say in this article. The main reason I wrote it was to help with other articles like the 51.xx and 52.xx printer errors related to the laser scanner assembly. With that being said, if you have purchased a laser scanner assembly and are looking for instructions with how to replace it check out the instructions and illustrations below for that information. If you have come to this article for faded or light print then follow the instructions but you do not have to perform the laser scanner removal. Once you get the top cover off all you have to do is remove the laser scanner assembly metal top cover to get to the mirrors and lens inside.

Laser Scanner Removal

1. Unplug the laser/scanner wire-harness connector from the DC controller PCA. Remove the laser/scanner wire-harness from the wire guide.
2. Unplug the laser/scanner wire-harness from the laser/scanner PCA
3. Remove four screws.   Do not turn the laser/scanner adjustment screw. The two front mounting screws have grounding clips that are not captive when the screws are removed. Be sure to replace these clips when the laser/scanner is installed.
4. Carefully lift the laser/scanner up and out of the printer. Make sure the wires along the bottom of the laser/scanner assembly don’t get snagged by the assembly when the assembly is removed. When the laser/scanner assembly is installed, make sure that the wire-harnesses are properly routed through the cable guides. It the wire-harnesses are not properly routed, they can be damaged when the top cover is installed
