Diagnostic Aids for troubleshooting the 50.1 Fuser Error on the HP LaserJet CM3530 Series MFP

The most common fuser problem with just about any manufacture is a low temperature reading found in the fusing unit. In HP machines the 50.1 fuser error is related to this low temperature reading. In this article I’d like to talk a little bit about the error and give a few simple troubleshooting tips before you decide to break down and replace the fuser. Troubleshooting Tips
1. Turn the machine off then back on. Sudden power outages or a weak heating element can cause this problem. Turning off then on again while it’s still hot can sometimes get it up to the correct operating temp. If you see this happen more than two or three times in a few week period then the fuser probably is on its way out.
2. Check your power source. Make sure it is plugged straight into a wall outlet and no battery back up or power strip. check for 120v.
3. Remove fuser and check connections and visible signs of extreme wear.
4. Turn the machine off, unplug, let it sit 20 to 30 minutes, then try again.

Service Manual Instructions
1. Remove any paper jams from the fuser area.
2. Remove the fuser. Check the connector (J50) between the fuser and the product. Replace the cable or fuser if the connector is damaged.
3. If the problem persists, replace thefuser.

CAUTION: The fuser might be hot. Allow enough time after turning off the product power for the fuser to cool.
1. Open the right-door assembly.

2. Grasp the handles and squeeze the blue release levers.
Pull the fuser straight out of the product to remove it.
