Estimated Fuser Life : 50,000 to 80,000

As with most Dell printers these fusers cross over to a wide range of other machines, namely Lexmark. Don’t see a lot of call for these fuser as the machines did not sell for much. However, they tend to be pretty reliable machines and I find for the most part they can handle a work load that is misleading for their small design. I would think twice before throwing this machine away if I had a fuser error or fuser related print quality issue. These machine, being Lexmark in design, have the metal hot rollers in them, making them more durable than HP fixing film fusers.

Things to look out for with these  fusers.

1. Ghosting down the middle of the page if toner builds up on the hot roller. See this more with specialty paper and third party toner

2. Uniform lines or creases down the page as a result of the pick fingers scratching away at the surface of the hot roller.

3. Noise – These machines don’t really have a user specified maintenance message like  larger models  so if the machine gets heavy usage the fuser gears can get worn down and its up to you to keep an eye on the fuser to periodically check for wear and tear.

4. Check the page count. Typically, I recommend replacing these fusers round 80,000 prints or at least taking them out and giving them a good visible inspection.
