Troubleshooting Aids for Repairing the 57.03 Error on the HP Laserjet P3015

Alright the 57.03 error is related to the sub fan on the  inside the left side cover of the machine. While a pretty straight forward problem with a pretty straight forward solution there are a few things you can try first before replacing the fan, Sub Fan – Left Side – LJ P3015, RK2-1499-000CN.

First thing to do is to check and make sure you have proper ventilation on the left side. In fact you should have about a 4 inch clearance on all sides.

Second thing is to make sure something hasn’t gotten stuck in the vents on the left side of the machine. People love to stick notes, pictures, and other paper on these machines with tape. Sometimes the tape can get in the vents and block the fan blades in the fan.

Third is to remove the left side cover and blow out the fan. At this point you should also manually move the fan to see if it moves with easy. Turn on the machine with the left side off and watch and see if the fan actually moves. Sometimes when the bearings in the fan motor get worn, a little nudge sometimes gets them moving again. If you feel up to it you can give them a nudge when the machine first turns on to see if it will start operating.

Fourth, check all the connectors, in the case of this fan J1505 on the DC controller or ECU.

Finally, if all else fails you will have to replace the Sub Fan – Left Side – LJ P3015, RK2-1499-000CN
