High temperature errors in the HP color laserjet  3000, 3600, 3800, and CP3505  result in a 50.3 fuser  error displayed on the control panel. Most fusers  operate at around 350 to 425 decrees. When the  fusing assembly  exceed the set temperature in the DC controller the machine displays a 50.3  fuser  error and shuts the machine down to prevent further damage and possible fire issues that can result. The best thing to do when the machine comes up with this error is to shut it down and let it sit for 20 to 30 minutes to let it cool down then turn back on and see what happens. While the machine is off you probably should check ventilation around the machine. Make sure nothing is blocking the vents on the sides of the machine. Another thing to check is the fuser  temps inside the machine. On newer models you can beef up the fuser  temps. Best thing to do is print off the menu map from the information menu. 1. Open the upper cover, and then squeeze the two blue fuser-locking  levers to release the fuser. Rotate the fuser up and out of the printer.

1. Verify the fuser is installed correctly and fully seated.
2. Check that connector J6007 Â on the fuser is seated correctly. Replace the connector as necessary.
3. Turn off the printer.

5. Measure the resistance between fuser  connectors J6007LA-1  and J6007LA-3. If the resistance is not 100 kohms  to 3 Mohms, replace the fuser HP 3600, 3800, CP3505 Fuser RM1-2763-020
6. Upgrade the DC controller firmware.
7. Replace the DC controller PCA.

Like I said in the beginning the 50.3 fuser  error is the result in a high temperature error  happening.  HP and any service company will recommend to any body that the machine should be turned off and unplugged for 20 to 30 minutes then plugged back in a turned on. This allows the fuser to cool down and allow any error that might be stuck in the memory to reset itself so when it turns on it goes through a regular warm up mode. If after you have checked all the suggestions above the machine still produces the 50.3 fuser error then the next step would be to replace the fuser.
