Troubleshooting The HP Laserjet 4240, 4250, 4350 50.2 fuser error

1. If you were to call HP or any service company they would recommend checking the power source. These machines handle a large amount of power. They should be plugged straight into a wall outlet and not a power strip or battery backup. I know what some of you are thinking. It has worked for years like this I don’t need to change it. Do with the information what you want. I’ve seen power issues cause problems like this before so I would advice doing it.

2. If you just replaced the fuser check and make sure you ordered the right one and type. There are several different types of 4000 fusers that can be installed in this machine and will not work. Also there is a 220v and a 120v fuser. Given the several options it is easy to purchase the wrong one or the vendor to accidently ship you one that has the wrong heating element installed in it and it will result in a 50.2 fuser error. Happen to me twice, by the way.

3. Is just the fusers age. Inside the fuser is a fuser film and heating element. Overtime the heating element starts to ware out and get scratches in it. This causes the machines to take longer to warm up which can result in this error.

Conclusion About the HP Laserjet 4240, 4250, 4350, 50.2 Fuser Error

Final thing to try is to turn the machine off, unplug it, and let it sit for 10 to 20 minutes and remove and reseat the fuser unit. This allows the machine to clear out its memory and when the machine next starts it will go through its normal power up sequence. 1. Open the rear output bin. Use your finger to squeeze the hinge pin (formatter side) out of its mounting hole.
2. Rotate the output bin away from the printer until the right hinge pin is released, and then remove the output bin.
3. Squeeze the blue fuser release tabs
4. Pull the fuser straight back and out of the printer.
